An ornament with your own pet

From my own experience, I know how important a pet can be to you. I have had pets since I was fourteen and still (now 37 years later) I am surrounded by pets that all have a special place in my heart.

The idea of painting your own pet on a begging bead came from a regular customer.

I had been painting animals on charm beads for some time, and she knows my work. So when she bought a bed bead with the image of a kitten, she asked if it was possible for me to paint her own cats on charm beads. “Of course it is possible,” I replied. And after she sent me the pictures I immediately got to work.

I usually make a sketch of the animal first. Photos of animals are sometimes not of such high quality, or razor sharp and sometimes the pet is just not depicted from the right angle. That in itself is not so bad, but then I first make a sketch so that I have a clear image from which to work. A miniature painting is so small that every stroke of a brush has to be in exactly the right place. There is very little space to work on.

After I finished the charm beads and showed the result to the cats’ owner, she was extremely pleased with the result. And that is what is important to me, a customer who is very happy with a special charm bead.

But a bedside bead made to order can be more than a picture of a pet, it can also be a musical instrument, an important place, a miniature painting of your bridal bouquet.
